Welcome to WeSurf ("we," "our," or "us"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use the WeSurf Chrome Extension.

2. The Data We Collect

WeSurf is designed to be as privacy-focused as possible. We only collect the data absolutely necessary to provide our core service (synchronized browsing and video playback).

Account Information: If you choose to log in via Google, we securely receive your email address, name, and profile picture to display in your chat rooms.
Temporary Browsing Data: To sync your session with friends, we temporarily process the URL of the active tab and video playback states (timestamp, play/pause). We do not track your background browsing history. This data is only processed for the active tab where WeSurf is explicitly enabled.
Chat Messages: Messages sent in WeSurf rooms are routed through our secure WebSockets to reach your friends. We do not permanently store your chat history.

3. Chrome Permissions Justification

To function, WeSurf requires certain permissions. Here is exactly why we need them:

Read and change all your data on all websites (all_urls): Required to inject the chat sidebar and sync video state across any website you choose to watch with friends.
Storage: Required to save your display name, avatar choice, and active room ID locally on your device.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We never will.
